We’re rolling out a new version of WhatsApp Web and Desktop. With this update, you can use WhatsApp on up to four linked devices at the same time, without requiring your phone to be online. Each device will connect to WhatsApp independently while maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption that people who use WhatsApp have come to expect. These changes started rolling out to users in January, and will be coming to all iOS users in March and Android users in April.

We hear the user feedback that we still have a ways to go. We’re aware that some users are experiencing delays when securely loading messages on WhatsApp Web and Desktop and we’re working on improvements to make the experience faster and more reliable on linked devices.

We’re also aware that users are missing some features including link previews on WhatsApp Web, viewing live location on linked devices, better synching of deleted chats across devices, broadcast lists, sending and receiving messages to your own number, and syncing sticker packs from your phone to your linked device. We're working hard to reinstate as many of these as possible.
