How to manage your notifications


Notification preferences can easily be managed in your WhatsApp settings.

Open WhatsApp Web or Desktop > click Menu ( or ) > Settings > Notifications.

Here you can make changes to:

  • Sounds

  • Desktop Alerts

  • Show Previews

You can also turn off all chat alerts and sounds for a certain amount of time. To turn notifications back on, click Alerts and sounds off.Click to restore. ( or ).

Mute individual or group chats

  1. Open an individual or group chat.
  2. Click Menu > Mute notifications.
  3. Select a duration:
    • 8 Hours
    • 1 Week
    • Always
  4. Click MUTE NOTIFICATIONS.

To turn notifications back on, find the muted chat and click Menu > Unmute notifications.

Note: If you mute an individual or group chat on your phone, it'll also be muted on WhatsApp Web and Desktop. All other notification settings are independent of your phone and computer and don't affect one another.

Turn off all notifications

To turn off all notifications, including incoming calls, close WhatsApp Web or Desktop. To turn on desktop notifications, open WhatsApp.

Alternatively, you can enable Do Not Disturb on Mac or Focus Assist on Windows. For more instructions on how to turn off notifications, please visit the Apple Support website or the Microsoft Support website.
