By default, any group participant can change the group subject, icon, description, or send messages. However, a group admin can change group settings to allow only admins to edit group info or send messages.
Change the group subject
Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the group subject.
Alternatively, click Menu ( or ) in the top corner > Group info.
Click Edit to the right of the group subject.
Enter a new subject, then click the gray check mark to save.
The subject limit is 25 characters.
You can add emoji to your subject by clicking the Emoji icon.
Change the group icon
Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the group subject.
Alternatively, click Menu ( or ) in the top corner > Group info.
Hover over the icon, then click CHANGE GROUP ICON, where you can choose to:
View photo
Take photo
Upload photo
Remove photo
Do a Web Search for an image

Change the group description
Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the group subject.
Alternatively, click Menu ( or ) in the top corner > Group info.
Click Edit to the right of the group description.
Enter a new description, then click the gray check mark to save.
You can add emoji to your description by clicking the Emoji icon.
