The Request Account Info feature allows you to request and export a report of your WhatsApp account information and settings (e.g. your profile photo and group subjects). Please understand this report doesn't include your messages.
To request a report:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Press Options > Settings > Account > Request account info.
- Select and press Request report. The Request account info screen will update to state Request sent.
Note:
- Your report will be available approximately three days after the date you requested it. You can refer to the Ready by date while waiting for your report.
- Once you request a report, you can't undo or cancel your pending request.
- If you change your phone number or delete your account, your pending request will be voided. If your request is voided, you can request another report.
Downloading and exporting the report
When the report is available to download, you'll receive a WhatsApp notification on your phone stating “Your account info report is now available”. The Request account info screen in WhatsApp will tell you that you'll have a few weeks to download your report after it's available (before it's deleted from our servers) . Because the report has your personal information, you should be careful when storing, sending or uploading it to any other services.
To download and export the report:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Press Options > Settings > Account > Request account info.
- Select and press Download report.
- Press Export report > OK > OK.
Note: After you download the report to your phone, you'll have the option to permanently delete the downloaded copy from your phone by selecting and pressing Delete report on the Request account info screen, then pressing OK. Deleting the report won't delete any of your WhatsApp account data.
Viewing the report
You'll be unable to view the downloaded report within WhatsApp. To view the report, you'll need to access or port it from your phone to your computer. To do so:
- On your computer, download a file transfer application (e.g. Android File Transfer for Mac).
- Use an USB cord to connect your phone to your computer. Alternatively, you can insert your phone's SD card into your computer. The file transfer application will then automatically open on your computer.
- Note: If you use an USB cord, you'll first need to press Settings on the apps menu > scroll to the side to select Storage > select and press USB Storage > select and press Enabled.
- Click downloads > whatsapp.
- Drag the My account info.zip file to your desktop.
- Unzip the file by opening it. This will create a My account info folder.
- Open the folder, then open the HTML file to view your account information.
