How to use Touch ID or Face ID for WhatsApp

As an additional security measure on iOS 9 and newer, you can enable Touch ID or Face ID on WhatsApp. When enabled, you must use Touch ID or Face ID to unlock WhatsApp. You can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls if WhatsApp is locked.

Enable Touch ID or Face ID

In order to use Touch ID or Face ID for WhatsApp, you must first enable it in iPhone Settings.

  1. Open WhatsApp Settings.
  2. Tap Account > Privacy > Screen Lock.
  3. Turn on Require Touch ID or Require Face ID.
  4. Select the length of time WhatsApp can be on standby mode before Touch ID or Face ID is required.

Disable Touch ID or Face ID

  1. Open WhatsApp Settings.
  2. Tap Account > Privacy > Screen Lock.
  3. Turn off Require Touch ID or Require Face ID.

Note: If Touch ID or Face ID doesn’t unlock WhatsApp, you can enter your iPhone passcode.
