How to reply to a message
The Reply feature allows you to respond to a particular message in an individual chat or group.
To reply to a message:
- Android: Tap and hold the message, then tap Reply
. Type your response and tap Send
.
- Alternatively, swipe right on the message to reply.
- To reply privately to someone who sent a message in a group, tap and hold the message, then tap More options
> Reply privately.
- iPhone: Tap and hold the message, then tap Reply
. Type your response and tap Send
.
- Alternatively, swipe right on the message to reply.
- To reply privately to someone who sent a message in a group, tap and hold the message, then tap More
> Reply Privately
- Windows Phone: Long press the message, then tap reply. Type your response and tap send
.
- To reply privately to someone who sent a message in a group, long press the message, then tap reply privately.
- WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop: Hover over the message, then click Menu
> Reply. Type your response and click Send (

Note: If you want to cancel a reply before sending, tap or click the "x" on the right side of the message.
