Controls When Messaging Businesses
You’re in control of your chats with businesses on WhatsApp and you can easily update chat preferences.
WhatsApp gives you tools to share feedback or stop receiving messages on WhatsApp from a particular business that include offers and announcements. These include coupons, information about new products, back-in-stock alerts, or reminders about upcoming sales and events. Or, you can block and report that business at any time.
As a reminder, WhatsApp won't share your number to a business and our policies prohibit businesses from contacting you without your approval.
Stop offers and announcements
You can choose to stop receiving offers and announcement messages altogether:
- Open your chat with the business.
- Tap Stop, then tap Stop again to confirm that you’ll no longer receive offers and announcements.
To continue receiving offers and announcements, open your chat with the business and tap Resume.
If you decide to stop offers and announcements, you'll still get other messages that you have chosen to receive such as boarding passes, delivery updates, one-time passwords, etc.
To share feedback on offers and announcements you receive from the business:
- Open your chat with the business.
- Tap the preferences icon next to the message you’d like to provide feedback on.
- Select Interested or Not interested.
- If you select Interested you will continue to receive messages from the business.
- If you select Not Interested you will receive fewer messages like this from the business.
Block or report a business
When you receive a message from a business, we will also provide you with the option to block or report the business, or view their profile.
When you block a business, you can tell us why. For example, you no longer need to message that business or you didn’t sign up to receive messages from them. We might use this block and report information to take action on an account or limit the messages they can send. We may also use this information to ensure the safe and secure use of WhatsApp by detecting spam and limiting other bad experiences.
The information you provide is anonymous to the business, which means the business can't see who provided it. WhatsApp doesn’t see the content of your messages to the business.
