Your privacy rights on WhatsApp

Your privacy rights
You have the right to access the information we have about you. Likewise, you have the right to require such information to be corrected or cancelled; under certain circumstances you may oppose our use of your personal data for specific purposes and/or may revoke the consent you granted us from the processing of your personal data to the extent permitted by law.
- Access and portability: You can access and port your data using the WhatsApp application tools on Android, iPhone and KaiOS. When you use the “Request account information in the app” feature, WhatsApp provides the information in an easy-to-view HTML file and in a JSON file that can be transferred to another application. As a rule, this report is made available in no more than three days after the date on which it is requested. This is a self-service tool that is available to you at any time, free of charge.
- Rectification: You can also rectify your information (such as profile picture, first name, last name, phone number and status).
- Deletion: You can delete your WhatsApp account at any time using the “Delete my account" in the app feature. When you delete your account, WhatsApp (i) deletes account information and profile photo; (ii) excludes users from all WhatsApp groups; and (iii) deletes the backup of WhatsApp's message history. You can also delete your profile photo and information about yourself in the app, without using the “Delete my account” feature (by editing your profile). You can choose to export your chat history on Android or iPhone before deleting your account.
In addition, it is important to highlight that messaging a business on WhatsApp is always optional and WhatsApp will clearly inform you when you are connected to a business that is using our API business solution. At all times, you remain in control as to whether you message with businesses on WhatsApp, and you can opt in to receive requested information from a business—like a boarding pass, for example—or reach out for customer support.
Any time you want to stop receiving messages from a business, you can also easily block the business on WhatsApp so that the business will no longer be able to message you, and/or you can contact that business to opt out of communications from them. Furthermore, if a business chooses to use Facebook to securely host and manage its messages, WhatsApp will make that clear to you within those chats. If you are not okay with the business' use of Facebook, you can easily choose not to message that business on WhatsApp.
Our commitment to your privacy isn’t changing. Your personal conversations are always protected by end-to-end encryption, which means no one outside of your chats, not even WhatsApp or Facebook, can read or listen to them. Your messages belong to you.
