About safely communicating with WhatsApp support

When you contact us with a question, WhatsApp Support may communicate with you in a chat thread or over email.
WhatsApp will never ask you for sensitive personal information, your full name, PIN, or payment details.

WhatsApp support via chat

When you connect with WhatsApp Support in a chat thread, we'll only message you from our official WhatsApp Support account, which is marked with the verified badge and the Official Support Account label.
You might also interact with artificial intelligence (AI), when you contact WhatsApp Support. Responses generated by AI are labeled with AI
AI sparkle
in the message bubble. At times, messages generated by AI may be inaccurate or inappropriate. We recommend checking the Help Center to further assist in resolving your issue.
Note: If you receive a message claiming to be WhatsApp Support, but doesn’t have the verified badge or the Official Support Account label, this is likely a scam. Please do not reply and promptly report and/or block this number.

WhatsApp support via email

When you connect with WhatsApp Support over email, we'll get back to you with an email response. WhatsApp Support will only contact you from email addresses ending in @support.whatsapp.com.
When contacting support by email, you can also provide additional information, which will appear in the contents and attachments of your email draft to WhatsApp support.

Information WhatsApp collects when you contact support

When you contact WhatsApp Support, in addition to the information you provide directly describing your issue, WhatsApp collects your phone number or email address (depending on how you contact WhatsApp Support) to contact you to resolve your issue.
When contacting WhatsApp Support from within the app, WhatsApp collects your phone number and may collect additional information that is necessary to understand and resolve your issue, which includes:
  • Phone network information, such as carrier and network type
  • Device information, such as device type and free space available
  • Device settings, such as language and permissions granted to WhatsApp
  • Backup settings, such as backup frequency and time of last backup
  • WhatsApp app information, such as version number
  • Logging information about how features were used, which helps us understand what might have gone wrong
