Can’t connect to WhatsApp

If you’re unable to send or receive messages on WhatsApp, you might not have an internet connection. To check your device’s internet connection:
- See if there's a clock icon next to your messages instead of a check mark. If there is, it means your messages aren't getting delivered.
- Check the network signal on your device to see if it's blinking or empty.
Most connection issues can be resolved by doing one or more of the following:
- Restart your device by turning it off and back on.
- Open your device's Settings > tap Connections > turn Airplane mode on and off.
- Open your device's Settings > tap Connections > Mobile networks > turn on Mobile data.
- Open your device's Settings > tap Apps > WhatsApp > Mobile data > turn Allow background data usage data.
- Update WhatsApp to the latest version available on the Google Play Store.
- Upgrade your Android operating system to the latest version available for your device.
- Open your device's Settings > Connections > turn Wi-Fi off and on.
- Try connecting to different Wi-Fi hotspots.
- Make sure Wi-Fi stays on during sleep mode.
- Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
- Contact your mobile provider and make sure your APN settings are configured correctly.
- If you're having trouble connecting to WhatsApp while on a Wi-Fi network that you don't normally connect to, contact the network administrator.
- Make sure your connection isn't on a managed Wi-Fi network, such as at your office or university campus. Your network might be configured to block or limit connections.
- WhatsApp isn't designed to be used with proxy or VPN services. We don’t support these configurations.
