If you're having problems sending and receiving chats, or uploading and downloading photos or videos, the most common reason why is a poor internet connection. This can also cause issues related to hearing or recording audio.
To check your device’s internet connection:
- Open WhatsApp Web.
- Do you see a yellow banner with the message Computer not connected? This means you may not have an active internet connection.
- If you don’t have internet, contact your internet provider.
If your device is connected to the internet and has a strong signal, try these steps to fix the issue:
- Refresh the WhatsApp Web page.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies. We recommend you visit your browser’s support website for instructions on how to clear the cache and cookies.
- Log out of WhatsApp Desktop and log back in.
- Uninstall and re-download WhatsApp. Learn how to download WhatsApp Desktop.
- Sometimes restarting your device can help. We suggest turning your device off, waiting for 30 seconds and turning it back on.
- Sometimes, for example, office or university campus Wi-Fi can cause connection issues. Try connecting to a different network or using data.
- Set your network to bypass traffic to "web.whatsapp.com" or ".whatsapp.net". This can help if you’ve had a notification saying you’re using Wi-Fi that’s stopping WhatsApp from working properly.
Note: You can use WhatsApp Web on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, or Safari. WhatsApp Web won’t work with some older browsers, for example Internet Explorer.
