How to add and remove group participants

You can add or remove group participants if you’re a group admin. Admins can also decide if they want to keep their groups open for anyone on WhatsApp to join, or require admin approval for any new participants who want to join.
Add participants
- Open the WhatsApp group chat, then tap the group subject.
- Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the Chats tab. Then, tap More options> Group info.

- Tap Add or Invite via Link.
- Search for or select contacts to add to the group.
- Tap .
- If the group has Approve New Participants turned on, and there are pending requests to join the group, an admin can review these requests.
Remove participants
- Open the WhatsApp group chat, then tap the group subject.
- Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the Chats tab. Then, tap More options> Group info.

- Tap the participant you want to remove.
- Tap Remove {participant} > OK.
