How to add and remove group participants

You can add or remove group participants if you’re a group admin. Admins can also decide if they want to keep their groups open for anyone on WhatsApp to join, or require admin approval for any new participants who want to join.
Add participants
  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat.
  2. Click the group subject.
    • Alternatively, click Menu (
      or
      ) in the top corner > Group info.
  3. Click Add participant
    or Invite to group via link.
  4. Search for or select a contact to add to the group.
  5. Click the green check mark
    .
  6. Click Add participant.
  7. If the group has Approve New Participants turned on, and there are pending requests to join the group, an admin can review these requests.
Remove participants
  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat.
  2. Click the group subject.
    • Alternatively, click Menu (
      or
      ) in the top corner > Group info.
  3. Hover over the participant you want to remove, then click Menu
    .
  4. Click Remove > REMOVE.
