How to edit photos and videos

WhatsApp allows you to personalize your photos and videos by adding stickers, emoji, text, freehanded drawings, and filters.
Edit photos and videos
Take a new photo or video
- Tap Attach> Camera
in the text field.
- Tap Video or Photo, then record a new video or take a new photo.
- Start editing your photo or video.
Use an existing photo or video
- Tap Attach> Galleryin the text field.
- Choose a photo or video.
- Start editing your photo or video.
Crop or rotate your photo
- Tap .
- To crop a photo, tap and hold any of the handles, then drag them in or out to the desired size.
- To rotate a photo, tap Rotaterepeatedly.
- Tap Done when you’ve finished.
Apply a filter to your photo
- Swipe up on the photo.
- Select a filter.
- Tap the photo when you’ve finished.
Add stickers or emoji to your photo or video
- Tap > Stickers or Emoji.
- Tap the item you’d like to use.
- To move the item, tap and hold it, then drag it.
- To resize the item, pinch in or out to make it smaller or larger.
- To rotate the item, pinch and turn it.
- Tap anywhere on your photo when you’ve finished.
- To delete an emoji or sticker, drag it to the Trash Canthat appears.
Add text to your photo or video
- Tap Textat the top of the screen.
- Type the desired text in the text box.
- Tap Done when you’ve finished.
Change the appearance of your text
- Tap the text box.
- To change the text color, and slide your finger up and down the Color selector.
- To change the font type, tap repeatedly. The font changes each time. Tap the screen to confirm the new font type.
- To resize the text, pinch in or out to make it smaller or larger.
- To rotate the text, pinch and turn the text box.
- To move the text box, drag it to a new location.
- Tap anywhere on the screen when you’ve finished.
Note: You can also select the font and color before adding your text.
Draw on your photo or video
- Tap .
- Select the pen color and thickness.
- To change the pen color, slide your finger up and down the Color selector.
- You can change the pen thickness by tapping one of the icons below your photo.
- Use your finger to create freehand drawings.
- To delete a line while drawing, tap Undo.
- Tap Done when you’ve finished.
Blur all or part of a photo
- Tap .
- Tap the Blurtool, located below your photo.
- Use your finger to blur any part of the photo.
- Tap to Undo the blur effect.
- Tap Done when you’ve finished.
Mute your video
- Tap Muteto turn off the audio in your video.
Send your media
Once you’ve finished editing your media, tap Send
.
