How to edit photos and videos

WhatsApp allows you to personalize your photos by adding stickers, emoji, text, and freehand drawings.
Edit photos
Attach a photo or video
- Click next to the text field.
- To take a new photo with your webcam, click >.You can click Retake if you want to take a new photo to replace the one you’ve just taken.
- To use an existing photo or video, click and choose one from your Gallery.Clickto attach additional photos or videos.
- Start editing your photo.
Adjust the quality of your photo message
- Click , then click:
- Standard quality to send a standard quality photo. Standard quality photos use less data and are sent faster than HD quality photos.
- HD quality to send a high quality photo. HD quality photos are clearer than Standard quality photos, but use more data and take longer to send.
Crop or rotate your photo
- Click
- To crop a photo, click and drag any of the handles in or out to the desired size.
- To rotate a photo to the left or right, click or.
- To Undo or Redo a change you’ve made to the photo, click oras many times as needed.
- To revert the photo to the original size and rotation, click Reset.
- Click Done when you’ve finished.
Add emoji or stickers to your photo
- Click or.
- Click an item you’d like to use.
- To move the item, click and hold it, then drag it to a different location on the photo.
- To resize the item, click it, then click and hold the handle in the corner of the box, and drag it in or out to make it smaller or larger.
- To rotate the item, click it, then click and hold the handle at the top of the box, and drag it in a circle.
- To delete an item, click it, then click .
- Click Done when you’ve finished.
Add text to your photo
- Click .
- Type the desired text in the text box.
- Click Done when you’ve finished.
- To delete the text, click the text box, then click .
Change the appearance of your text
- Click the text box.
- To change the font, click below your photo.
- To change the text color, select one of the colors below your picture.You can choose a custom color by clicking theand dragging the square to a color.Note: You can also select the font and color before adding your text.To resize the text, drag the handle in the corner of the text box, in or out to make it smaller or larger.
- To rotate the text, click and drag the handle at the top of the text box, in a circle.
- To move the text, click and drag the textbox to a new location on the picture.
- Click Background to remove or add the background in the text box.
- Click Done when you’ve finished.
Draw on your photo
- Click
- To change the pen color, click one of the colors below your picture.You can choose a custom color by clickingand dragging the square to a color.
- To change the pen thickness, click one of the three gray circles .Note: You can also select the pen color and thickness before adding your drawing. Click and hold anywhere on the photograph, and drag to make freehanded drawings.
- To delete a line immediately after you’ve drawn it, click .
- Clicking adds the line or drawing back to the photo.
- Click Done when you’ve finished.
Blur all or part of your photo
- Click
- To move the blurred area, drag the box to a new location of the picture.
- To resize it, drag any of the handles in or out to make it smaller or larger.
- You can change blur effect by clicking below your photo.
- To decrease or increase the amount of blur move to the left or right.
- Click Done when you’ve finished.
- To remove the blur effect, click it, then click .
Send your media
