You can deactivate a community for all members if you’re the community owner.
When you deactivate a community, all the groups you and other members belong to will be unlinked from the community.
You can find former community groups in the Chats tab. No one will be able to send messages in General or Announcements.
Note: There’s no way to reactivate a deactivated community.

  1. Go to the Communities tab and click the community you want to deactivate.
  2. Click
    more options
    > Community info.

Once you’ve deactivated the community, you’ll see the groups that belonged to that community in your Chats tab, and can continue to interact with them. You won’t be able to interact with Announcements or General, but you can still view messages sent in those groups.
You can exit and delete any groups in your Chats tab.

  • When a community is successfully deactivated, all groups will be unlinked from the community.
  • Excluding General and Announcement, groups that are unlinked from the community will continue to work as regular groups in the Chats tab.
  • If you deactivate your WhatsApp account, your communities and Announcement groups will also be deactivated. Community admins and members will be removed from the community and from Announcement groups.
  • There’s no way to reactivate a deactivated community.
