How to link a device using a phone number and the WhatsApp Business app

You can now link a device using your WhatsApp Business primary account phone number and a one-time code. Up to four linked devices can be linked without the need to keep your primary phone connected. You'll need to log in to your primary phone every 14 days to keep linked devices connected to your WhatsApp Business account.
For the best experience, update to the latest version of the WhatsApp Business app.
Note: This feature is currently only available on WhatsApp Web.
Business Tip: By subscribing to WhatsApp Business Premium, you can connect up to 10 devices so you and your team can handle customer inquiries more quickly.

On WhatsApp Web

  1. To begin linking a companion device using your phone number, open WhatsApp Web on the device you want to link.
    • If you're already signed into WhatsApp Web with a WhatsApp Messenger account, you'll need to log out to proceed.
  2. Click Link with phone number.
  3. Enter your primary WhatsApp Business account phone number by selecting your country. Type in your phone number. Click Next.
  4. You'll see an 8-character code on the screen.

On your primary phone

  1. Tap the Enter code notification from the WhatsApp Business app.
  2. Your primary phone will show the device name you're trying to link. If this is correct, tap Confirm.
  3. If prompted, confirm your identity using biometric authentication or the PIN you use to unlock your phone.
  4. Enter the 8-character code from your companion device on your primary phone.
Alternatively, you can:
  1. Open the WhatsApp Business app on your primary phone.
  2. If your primary phone is an
    • Android: Tap
      more options
      > Linked devices > Link a device > Link with phone number instead.
    • iPhone: Go to Settings > Linked devices > Link device > Link with phone number instead.
  3. If prompted, confirm your identity using biometric authentication or the PIN you use to unlock your phone.
  4. Enter the 8-character code from your companion device on your primary phone.
