About the WhatsApp Channels Terms and Privacy Policy
- Channels are a one-way broadcast feature that anyone on WhatsApp can discover, follow, and view. In order to share public content with unlimited audiences, channels are not end-to-end encrypted.
- Channel admins are responsible for maintaining an age-appropriate and safe experience for their followers, and their channels are reviewed against the Guidelines in our Terms.
WhatsApp keeps your privacy in mind:
- Followers or viewers can’t see who else is following a channel.
- Other followers or viewers can't see your phone number. Admins of the channels that you follow can't see your full phone number unless they have you saved as a contact.
- Channels are optional and kept in a separate tab from your chats. As always, your personal messages and calls are protected with end-to-end encryption. No one outside of the chat, not even WhatsApp, can read, listen to, or share them.
Please note, if you choose to become a channel admin, you’ll be visible to other admins within the channel you manage, even if they aren’t already contacts. Learn more about safety and privacy for channel admins here.
