About the WhatsApp Channels Terms and Privacy Policy

The WhatsApp Channels Supplemental Terms and Privacy Policy explain how you can use Channels and how we use and protect your information, including:
  • Channels are a one-way broadcast feature that anyone on WhatsApp can discover, follow, and view. In order to share public content with unlimited audiences, channels are not end-to-end encrypted.
  • Channel admins are responsible for maintaining an age-appropriate and safe experience for their followers, and their channels are reviewed against the Guidelines in our Terms.
WhatsApp keeps your privacy in mind:
  • Followers or viewers can’t see who else is following a channel.
  • Other followers or viewers can't see your phone number. Admins of the channels that you follow can't see your full phone number unless they have you saved as a contact.
  • Channels are optional and kept in a separate tab from your chats. As always, your personal messages and calls remain end-to-end encrypted. No one else, not even WhatsApp, can read or listen to them.
Please note, if you choose to become a channel admin, you’ll be visible to other admins within the channel you manage, even if they aren’t already contacts. Learn more about safety and privacy for channel admins here.
