You can create an avatar to use as your profile photo and as stickers. You can also use your avatar to react to status updates.
Create your avatar
You can either create an avatar manually within WhatsApp on your mobile device, or automatically generate suggested avatars with a photo. Learn more about how to create avatars on WhatsApp.
Once created, you'll have personalized stickers of your avatar to share with contacts. You'll see these appear automatically in your sticker tray. Read more about how to use stickers.
Note: When you send an avatar sticker to someone, they can react with an emoji, reply or forward the message to others.
Set your avatar as your profile photo
- Tap > Settings.
- Tap your profile photo.
- Tap > Avatar.
Note: The privacy setting of your current profile photo will apply to your new avatar profile photo. You can change the visibility of your avatar profile photo in settings.
Change your avatar
You can change your avatar at any time by tapping Avatar in your settings, then tapping Edit avatar. You can use the avatar editor to customize and preview your avatar before finalizing it.
Delete your avatar
- Tap > Settings > Avatar.
- Tap Delete Avatar > Delete.
Note: Deleting your avatar is permanent and can't be reversed. You can create a new avatar at any time.
Share avatar stickers
You can share stickers of your avatar in your channels and chats.
- Tap .
- Tap .
- Select and tap a sticker.
- The sticker will be shared as soon as you tap it.

React to status updates
You can also use the avatar you've created to react to someone's WhatsApp status.
To react:
- Tap someone's status.
- Swipe up or tap Reply.
- Tap your avatar.
- Select and tap a sticker.
- The sticker will be sent as soon as you tap it.
Note: Depending on your device, your stickers might be animated.
