How to mute or unmute group notifications

You can mute group notifications for a specified period of time. You’ll still receive messages sent to the group, but won’t be notified.
New messages in muted chats aren’t displayed on the badge count on the WhatsApp icon unless you’re mentioned or replied to.
Mute group notifications
  1. Open the group chat, then tap the group subject.
    Alternatively, you can swipe the group to the left in the Chats tab, then tap More
    > Mute.
  2. Tap Mute

  3. Select the length of time you'd like to mute notifications for.
Unmute group notifications
  1. Open the group chat, then tap the group subject.
    Alternatively, swipe the group to the left in the Chats tab, then tap More
    > Unmute.
  2. Tap Muted
    .
  3. Tap Unmute.
