About sharing your device's location

WhatsApp gives you the ability to share your device's location with other users or businesses.
There are different ways to share your device's location:
The Share live location feature allows you to share your device's real-time location for a specific amount of time with the members of an individual or group chat. You can control whether and for how long to share your live location. You can also stop sharing your live location at any time. Once stopped or expired, your live location will no longer be shared. However, members in the individual or group chat you shared your live location with will continue to see the initial location you shared as a static thumbnail image. Members can tap the thumbnail in the individual or group chat to see your last updated location.
The Send your current location feature allows you to share a static image of your device's location at the moment you send your message. Sending your current location does not share your live location.
Note: To learn more about the encryption status of sharing your device's location with a business, consult the Business messaging section of this article.
