There are two ways to share your location with the members of an individual or group chat on WhatsApp. The live location feature allows you to share your real-time location for a specific amount of time you choose. The current location feature allows you to share your current precise location or the location of a nearby place.
These features are end-to-end encrypted, which means no one can see your location except the people you shared with.
By granting access to your location data, which includes IP address, GPS, Bluetooth signals, and network data, you agree to WhatsApp’s collection and processing of this information to provide precise location based features. You can stop sharing your location or disable access to your location data at any time.
You must enable access to your location through your device settings and give your permission to WhatsApp before we can use your location data. If you use WhatsApp on Android, you can choose your preferred level of location access. Allowing WhatsApp access to your location data While Using The App or Only this time is needed for live location so that your location will update even when you’re not using the app, current location, or a nearby place. If you choose Deny, your location will not be shared.

Live location
The live location feature allows you to share your real-time location for a specific amount of time with the members of an individual or group chat. You control whether and for how long to share your live location and can stop sharing your live location at any time. Once you stop sharing, your live location is no longer shared. Individuals who you shared your live location with will continue to see the location you shared as a static thumbnail image, and can tap the image to see your last updated location.
