Delete an individual chat

  1. In the Chats tab, swipe left on the chat you want to delete.
  2. Tap More > Delete chat > Delete chat.
Alternatively, tap
more
> Select chats. Select the chats you wish to delete, then tap Delete > Delete {number} chats.

Delete a group chat

To delete a group chat, you first need to exit the group:
  1. In the Chats tab, swipe left on the group chat you want to delete.
  2. Tap More > Exit group > Exit group.
  3. Swipe left on the group chat and tap Delete group > Delete group.
Note: If a group is part of a community, you can find that group by tapping on the community. You can also search for it by typing the group name into the search bar.

Delete all chats at once

  1. In the Settings tab, tap Chats > Delete all chats.
  2. Enter your phone number and tap Delete all chats.
Individual chats will be deleted from your Chats tab. However, group chats will still be visible in your Chats tab, and you’ll still be part of them unless you exit them.
Note: When you delete a chat, it can’t be undone. WhatsApp is unable to recover deleted chats for you. You can only recover deleted chats if your latest backup occurred prior to deleting a chat. Please be aware that you’ll lose any chats that occurred after the latest backup.
