How to manage group admins

A group can have an unlimited number of admins, and any admin can make a member an admin. The creator of a group can't be removed and will remain an admin unless they exit the group.
Note: WhatsApp can’t interfere with group administration functions. For example, we can't make someone an admin.
Make a member an admin
  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the subject.
    • Alternatively, click
      more options
      or
      menu
      in the top corner > Group info.
  2. Hover over the member you want to make an admin, then click
    menu
    .
  3. Click Make group admin > Make group admin.
Make multiple members admins at the same time
  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the subject.
    • Alternatively, click
      more options
      or
      menu
      in the top corner > Group info.
  2. Click Group Settings > Edit group admins.
  3. Select the members you want to make admins.
  4. Click the green check mark when you're finished.
Dismiss an admin
  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the subject.
    • Alternatively, click
      more options
      or
      menu
      in the top corner > Group info.
  2. Hover over the admin you want to dismiss, then click
    menu
    > Dismiss as admin.
Dismiss multiple admins at the same time
  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the subject.
    • Alternatively, click
      more options
      or
      menu
      in the top corner > Group info.
  2. Click Group Settings > Edit group admins.
  3. Uncheck the admins you want to dismiss.
  4. Click the green check mark when you're finished.
