How to change group admin settings

By default, all group members can add others to the group if a group was started with less than 33 members, send messages and change group information including the group subject, icon, or description.
If a group has more than 256 members, Edit group settings will default to Only admins.
Group admins can change settings to allow either only admins or all members to edit group info, send messages or add people to a group.
Change group info settings
  1. Open the group chat, then tap the group subject.
  2. Tap Group Permissions.
  3. Choose to turn on Edit Group Settings.
    • When turned on, members can edit group settings, including name, icon, and description.
    • When turned off, only admins can edit group settings.
Change group message settings
  1. Open the group chat, then tap the group subject.
  2. Tap Group Permissions.
  3. Choose to turn on Send Messages.
    • When turned on, all members can send messages in the group.
    • When turned off, only admins can send messages in the group.
Change who can add members
By default, all group members can add others to a group. Group admins can change group settings to allow members to add others to a group.
  1. Open the group chat, then tap the group subject.
  2. Tap Group Permissions.
  3. Choose to turn on Approve New Members.
    • When turned on, admins must approve anyone who wants to join the group.
    • When turned off, this group is open for people to join without admin approval.
Note: This option is turned off by default.
Members can directly contact an admin by tapping admins in the group, then tapping the name of the admin they'd like to message.
