How to change group admin settings

By default, any group members can send messages and change group information including, the group name, icon, or description. However, an admin can change group settings to allow only admins to edit group info or send messages.

Change group info settings

  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then press Options > Group info.
    • Alternatively, select the group in your Chats list. Then, press Options > Group info.
  2. Select Edit group info, then press Edit.
  3. Choose to allow All members or Only admins to edit the group info.
  4. Press OK.

Change group message settings

  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then press Options > Group info.
    • Alternatively, select the group in your Chats list. Then, press Options > Group info.
  2. Select Send messages, then press Edit.
  3. Choose to allow All members or Only admins to send messages.
  4. Press OK.
