Can’t create or restore iCloud backup
iOS
If you can’t create an iCloud backup:
- Check that your available iCloud account storage is at least 2.05 times bigger than the size of your backup.
- Turn iCloud Drive off and back on. Go to iPhone Settings > tap your name > iCloud > turn iCloud Drive off and on.
- Check that you're signed in with the Apple ID that you use to access iCloud.
- Check that iCloud Drive is turned on. Go to iPhone Settings > tap your name > iCloud > check that your iCloud Drive is on.
- Check that your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS.
- If you're attempting to back up using cellular data, go to iPhone Settings > tap your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup > check that Back Up Over Cellular is on.
- Perform a manual backup by going to WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Chat Backup > Back Up.
- Try using a different Wi-Fi network.
If you can't restore an iCloud backup:
- Check that you’re restoring data from the same phone number and iCloud account that the backup was created on.
- If you’re restoring an end-to-end encrypted backup, check that you’re using the correct password or encryption key.
- Check that your available iCloud account storage is at least 2.05 times bigger than the size of your backup.
- Check that your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS.
- Try using a different Wi-Fi network.
- Turn iCloud Drive off and back on. Go to iPhone Settings > tap your name > iCloud > turn iCloud Drive off and on.
- Sign out of iCloud > restart your iPhone > sign back in to iCloud > try the restore again.
Note: Unfortunately, we can't restore your chats for you because your chat history isn’t stored on our servers. Your chats can only be found on your device or the recipient's phone.
