IFCN fact-checking organizations on WhatsApp

WhatsApp cares deeply about the safety of our users and we continue to focus on preventing misinformation. If the information you receive sounds suspicious or inaccurate, we encourage you to double-check information with these IFCN fact-checking organizations or via the IFCN fact-checking chatbot, at +1 (727) 2912606.
Partnering with fact-checkers on WhatsApp
Since 2018, WhatsApp has partnered with fact-checking organizations around the world. More than 50 fact-checking organizations are using WhatsApp products — the WhatsApp Business App and/or the WhatsApp Business Platform — to make sure that WhatsApp users have access to accurate information.
Because WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted and text messages, voice messages, and calls are secured, only you and the person you're communicating with can read or listen to them. That’s why our fact-checking partnerships on WhatsApp rely on user-initiated reporting.
Users can flag potential misinformation to trusted fact-checking organizations in the country where the message originated by sending them a message, and fact-checking organizations can reply by sharing a fact-checking article.
Supporting the fact-checking ecosystem on WhatsApp
In addition to our partnerships with fact-checkers on the WhatsApp Business App and WhatsApp Business Platform, we partner directly with IFCN and support organizations that are innovating and experimenting with using WhatsApp to combat misinformation.
