How to make changes to groups

By default, any group member can send messages or change the group name, icon, description. However, a group admin can change group settings to allow only admins to edit group info or add new members.
To find out who the admin of a group is, tap the group name and look for Admin next to a member’s name.
Note: You can’t hide group members’ phone numbers in a group.

Change the group name

  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the group name.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Enter a new name, then click Done to save.

Change the group description

  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the group name.
  2. Click the existing group description, or Add group description to add a new description.
  3. Enter a new description, then click Save.

Change the group icon

  1. Open the WhatsApp group chat, then click the group name.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Select Take photo, Choose photo, Emoji & sticker, or Search web to add a new image.
  4. Click Done.

Approve new members as a group admin
