You can easily get started using WhatsApp by registering your phone number to stay connected with friends, family and businesses.
Both you and your contacts will need a WhatsApp account and the latest version of the app. You can download this from Google Play or the App Store.

To register an account on WhatsApp

You must register an active phone number for verification. Confirming your phone number with a registration code is the only way you can activate your account. You must be able to receive the code via SMS or phone call. If you’re re-registering your phone number, you can get a code via email If you’ve added your email address to your account in your WhatsApp settings, during your initial registration, or during two-step verification setup.
  1. Check that your phone has a strong internet signal and can receive international SMS messages.
  2. Open WhatsApp on Android or iPhone and follow the steps to register your phone number.
  3. Enter and confirm your phone number.
  4. You'll receive a 6-digit registration code via SMS.
    • If you don’t receive your 6-digit registration code, tap Didn’t receive a code?, then select a code to be sent via SMS or phone call.
  5. Enter your 6-digit code to complete registration.
To add your email address to your account, open your WhatsApp settings and tap Account > Email Address. This helps you access your account next time you log in.
Note: Depending on your carrier, you might receive charges for SMS and phone calls.
