About interactions with business chats that include offers and announcements

Messages that include offers and announcements can provide you with valuable information from businesses you choose to talk to on WhatsApp such as coupons, information about new products, back-in-stock alerts, or reminders about upcoming sales or events.
WhatsApp requires businesses to secure your permission to send offers and announcements and WhatsApp takes action to prevent you from receiving too many of these messages.

How we limit spam and business message overload

  1. In order to reduce spam and manage the number of offers and announcements you might receive, WhatsApp collects limited information about your chats which is not shared with Meta. This includes:
    • The number of chats you have per day and week.
    • When you last received an offer or announcement from a business, and how often you receive them in comparison to your other chats.
  2. As always, your personal messages remain end-to-end encrypted. No one, not even WhatsApp, can see or hear them.
