Access, manage and delete your information
WhatsApp offers you tools to access, manage, and delete your information. If you are not a WhatsApp user, visit our About Contact Upload article to learn how WhatsApp processes contact information we receive from our users.
Access. You can access your information using our in-app Request Account Info feature (available under Settings > Account). Accessing your information is the way WhatsApp users may confirm the information that WhatsApp processes about them.
Manage. You can manage your information directly in-app as described in the “Managing and Retaining Your Information” section of our Privacy Policy. This allows you to do things like change your name, profile photo, phone number and more. You can also use these tools to correct information that may be inaccurate.
Delete. You can delete your WhatsApp account at any time using our in-app Delete My Account feature (available under Settings > Account). You can delete your WhatsApp account at any time using our in-app Delete My Account feature (available under Settings > Account). When you delete your WhatsApp account, your undelivered encrypted messages are deleted from our servers as well as any of your other information we no longer need to operate and provide our Services. Deleting your account will, for example, delete your account info and profile photo, delete you from all WhatsApp groups, and delete your WhatsApp message history. Be mindful that if you only delete the WhatsApp application from your device without using our in-app Delete My Account feature, it may take up to 90 days from the beginning of the deletion process to delete your WhatsApp information. In some instances, copies of your information may also remain after the 90 days in the backup storage (for example, for compliance with other legal obligations). Please remember also that when you delete your account, it does not affect your information related to the groups you created or the information other users have relating to you, such as their copy of the messages you sent them. You can learn more about how to delete your account on Android, iPhone, or KaiOS.
