How to create and customize events in community groups

You can create an event in community groups to help you and your contacts organize gatherings and stay connected.
Note: Only one group member can host an event. It’s not currently possible to have a co-host.

Create an event

  1. From your community group chat, tap
    attach
    > Event.
  2. Enter an event name, time and date.
  3. If you like, you can also add an event description, location or WhatsApp call link.
    • Event descriptions can be up to 2048 characters.
    • WhatsApp call links can be added to events up to 1 year in advance.
    • You can add links from other platforms, such as Zoom, in the event description.
  4. Tap the arrow in the bottom right when you’re finished.
Once created, the event will be shared in the group chat. Here, members can choose to respond and view event information.
You can't invite people who aren’t in the group to the event. You also can't forward an event to someone else.

Edit an event

Only event creators can edit events.
  1. Tap Edit event.
  2. Make your changes. You can edit your event name, date and time, location and description.
  3. Tap
    checkmark
Group members who responded yes will receive a notification when you edit your event. There’ll also be a notification in the group chat.

Cancel an event

Only event creators can cancel events.
  1. Tap Edit event.
  2. Tap Cancel event.
  3. Tap Yes.
  4. Tap
    checkmark
Group members who responded yes will receive a notification when you cancel your event. There’ll also be a system message in the group chat.
