How to delete a phone number from the WhatsApp Business Platform

Note: If you registered for the WhatsApp Business Platform through a Business Solution Provider, reach out to them directly for help.
Numbers registered with the WhatsApp Business Platform cannot also be registered with WhatsApp Messenger or the WhatsApp Business app.
If you no longer want to use the WhatsApp Business Platform, you can manage your WhatsApp accounts and follow these steps to delete your number:
  1. Find the WhatsApp account tied to the phone number that you want to delete, and select it.
  2. After selecting the account, you should see the People, Settings, and Pages tabs on the right.
  3. Click Settings > WhatsApp Manager.
  4. In WhatsApp Manager, click Phone Numbers.
  5. Find the phone number that you want to delete. Click the Delete icon and follow the steps presented to you in order to delete the phone number.
When you click the Delete icon, you might be asked to provide the password for the Facebook account associated with the account if a phone number was connected at any point.

Note:

  • Only admins of the WhatsApp Business App can delete a number.
  • A number can only be deleted if no paid messages have been sent from the account within the last 30 days.
  • Once you delete your number, all your WhatsApp Business Platform data will be deleted.
  • Phone numbers deleted from a WhatsApp Business Platform account can’t be used again for another WhatsApp Business Platform account.
  • If you have registered for the WhatsApp Business Platform through a Business Solution Provider, reach out to them directly for help.
If you can’t see an option to delete your number or you’re experiencing issues, please contact our support team:
  1. Log into Meta Business Suite.
  2. Click Help > Help.
  3. When the sidebar has loaded, click Contact Support Team.
  4. Provide information for the following fields:
    • Where is the issue occurring?: Select the business account registered to the phone number that you want to delete.
    • What issue are you experiencing?: Select Other Business Manager issue.
    • Get help: Select Chat.
    • Email and Phone Number: Enter your contact information.
    • Message: Enter a description of your request. You can use this sample message:
      • Hi, I would like to delete my phone number from the WhatsApp Business Platform.
    • Click Start Chat to connect to the Meta support team.
