How to chat with Meta AI in an individual or group chat

You can use Meta AI in your WhatsApp individual or group chats to ask questions or get advice. Others in the chat will be able to see your messages to Meta AI as well as Meta AI's response. Meta AI is an optional service offered and managed by Meta.
Note:
  • Meta AI and some experiences are currently only available in limited countries and might not be available to you yet, even if others in your country have access.
  • At this time, only English, Arabic, Bengali, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Marathi, Nepali, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese are supported.
Messages from Meta AI are generated by artificial intelligence (AI), using a service from Meta, in response to the prompts and messages you send to the AI.
Meta can only read messages that mention @Meta AI or that people choose to share with it, not any others. As always, your personal messages and calls are protected with end-to-end encryption, meaning no one outside of the chat, not even WhatsApp or Meta, can read, listen to, or share them.

Ask Meta AI a question in an individual or group chat

  1. Open the chat you'd like to use AI in.
  2. Type @ in the message field, then tap Meta AI.
  3. If prompted, read and accept the terms.
  4. Type your prompt.
  5. Tap
    Send (paper airplane within circle)
    . Meta AI's response will be displayed in the chat.

Reply to Meta AI

  1. Swipe right on the AI message.
  2. Type your message.
  3. Tap
    Send (paper airplane within circle)
    .

Ask Meta AI about a specific message

You can ask Meta AI a question about a specific message in a chat by forwarding it with a prompt to Meta AI. Learn how in this article.

Forward a message from Meta AI to an individual or group chat

You can forward a message from Meta AI to an individual or group chat.
  1. Open the chat with Meta AI.
  2. Tap and hold the message you’d like to share.
  3. Tap
    Forward (double arrow with curved tail)
    .
  4. Select a contact or group.
  5. Tap
    Send (paper airplane within circle)
    .

Provide feedback

You can provide feedback to Meta about responses from Meta AI.
  1. Tap and hold the AI message you’d like to provide feedback on.
  2. Tap Good Response or Bad Response.
    • Alternatively, tap
      Thumbs Up (thumbs up)
      or
      Thumbs Up (thumbs down)
      .
  3. If prompted, add a reason, then tap Submit.

  • Meta uses AI chats consistent with Meta’s Privacy Policy. By using this feature, you agree to Meta’s AI Terms of Service.
  • You have the option to delete individual chats with Meta AI or request the deletion of information you previously shared with Meta AI. Learn more in this article.
  • Some messages generated by Meta AI might not be accurate or appropriate.
