New features roll out in phases to ensure the best experience for all users. You may not see this yet.
Voice chats allow you to easily upgrade from messaging to a voice conversation with group members, without calling every member in the group. This feature enables seamless communication, collaboration, and multitasking within your groups.
To start a voice chat, swipe up in a group chat or tap
Voice Chat (speech bubble with waveform)
. Other group members will only be notified if you choose to notify them. To notify other group members, tap on the Wave button.
Use Voice Chats to:
  • Upgrade from messaging to a voice conversation at any time.
  • Talk to specific group members without disturbing others.
  • Easily notify all group members to join the conversation using the Wave All option.
When you start a voice chat, you join silently by default, but others in the group will be able to see if you’re connected. If you want to notify the group that you want to talk, tap Wave All to send a notification inviting them to participate.
Note: There is a minimum number of three participants to start a voice chat.
