Create a passkey

Android
iOS
We send you a registration code to confirm that you own the phone number you want to use on WhatsApp. After registering your phone number with WhatsApp, you can choose to set up a passkey for future verification.
You can use Touch ID, Face ID, or your device passcode to verify it’s you with a passkey. When you register, you can use the passkey instead of an SMS. To set up a passkey, you’ll need an iPhone 8 or later model with iOS 16 version or higher.
Note: If you are reinstalling WhatsApp and have previously created a passkey, you might be asked if you want to use that passkey at registration.

To create a passkey:

  1. Go to your WhatsApp settings.
  2. Tap Account > Passkeys > Continue.
  3. Tap Continue.
    • You may be asked to tap Use screen lock to create your passkey.
If you want to change your passkey, you'll need to delete your current passkey and create a new one.

To delete a passkey:

  1. Go to your WhatsApp Settings.
  2. Tap Account > Passkeys
  3. Tap Delete.
