How to use Siri with WhatsApp

Siri is a personal assistant built into iOS. You can ask Siri to send WhatsApp messages, place WhatsApp calls, or read aloud your unread WhatsApp messages.
Note: These features are only available on iOS 12 or newer.
Enable Siri
  1. Go to
    iPhone Settings > Siri & Search > turn on Listen for "Hey Siri" or Press Side Button for Siri.
    • iPhone SE (2020)and iPhone 8 and older: Turn on Press Home for Siri.
  2. Scroll down and tap WhatsApp.
  3. Turn on Use with Ask Siri.
On iPhone X, XS, XS Max, and XR you can press and hold the side button > Turn On Siri.
Visit the Apple Support website for specific information on how to use Siri and how Apple handles data sent through Siri.
Note: Opening WhatsApp with unread messages will reset the notification badge. Siri will then interpret this as if there were no unread messages and therefore won’t read them aloud.
