As an additional security measure, you can turn on app lock on WhatsApp Web. When app lock is turned on, you'll need to enter your password to unlock WhatsApp Web. Your message contents will be secure when the app is locked. Notifications will not appear when your app is locked.
Turn app lock on
- Click > Settings.
- Click Privacy > App lock.
- Select App lock.
- Enter a strong password of your choice.
- Your password must be between 6-128 characters, and may only contain letters, numbers, and common punctuation.
- You should use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters to set a strong password.
- Click OK.
- You can set your app to lock After 1 minute, After 15 minutes, or After 1 hour.
Turn app lock off
- Click > Settings.
- Click Privacy > App lock.
- Deselect App lock.
- Enter your password.
- Click OK.
Manually lock your app
If you turn on app lock, you can manually lock your app while using WhatsApp Web.

- Click Lock app.
Alternatively, you can use a keyboard shortcut.
