How to use WhatsApp on Meta AI glasses

You can link WhatsApp to AI glasses to send and reply to messages, and to make, answer and decline calls.

Link WhatsApp to Ray-Ban Meta

  1. Open the Meta AI app on your phone.
  2. Select the device you want to connect WhatsApp to, and press the settings gear icon.
  3. Tap Communication.
  4. Tap Connect next to WhatsApp.

Link WhatsApp to Meta Ray-Ban Display

  1. Open the Meta AI app on your phone.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Calling and messaging.
    • Or tap your glasses, then tap Calling and messaging.
  4. Tap Connect next to WhatsApp.
  5. Tap Continue to allow WhatsApp to use Bluetooth to connect your glasses.
  6. Put on your glasses and follow the prompts in the Meta AI app. A code will appear on both your phone and glasses. Confirm the codes match on both devices to complete pairing.

Unlink WhatsApp from AI glasses

  1. Open the Meta AI app on your phone.
  2. Select the device you want to disconnect, then press the settings gear icon.
  3. Tap Communication.
  4. Tap WhatsApp, then tap Disconnect.

How to use WhatsApp features

Send a text-based message

  1. Say "Hey Meta, send a message to [name] on WhatsApp".
  2. Listen and confirm with Meta AI that you've selected the correct person.
  3. Say the message that you want to send.
    • Note: Your device will read your message back to you.
  4. Say "Yes", "No", or "Cancel".

Send and receive a voice messages


You can send and listen to voice messages to keep connected with your loved ones and easily communicate on the go.

Make a call


To make a voice call, follow the steps in this article. You can also share your point of view while on a video call.

Set up message announcement and read out


You can use Meta Assistant to announce who's messaging you and to read out your messages.
  1. Open the Meta AI app on your phone.
  2. Select the device you want to update WhatsApp settings for, and press the settings gear icon.
  3. Tap Communication.
  4. Tap WhatsApp, then turn Announce messages or Automatic message readout on or off.
Note:
  • If you don't hear message announcements when the toggle is on, make sure you've provided Bluetooth permission in your phone's settings.
  • If you turn Read out messages on, you’ll still need to say “Hey Meta, play message” to play voice messages.

About your privacy

When you use WhatsApp on AI glasses, your calls and personal messages are secured with end-to-end encryption. To protect your privacy, as soon as it’s identified that you’re sending a message or making a call, audio content is not sent to Meta servers. Various factors can affect accuracy, such as the clarity of your voice command that indicates the start of a message. No one outside of the chat, not even WhatsApp or Meta, can read, listen to, or share them.
