About messaging businesses that use multiple WhatsApp Business products

Businesses on WhatsApp may use multiple business messaging tools to chat with their customers. They may chat with customers using the WhatsApp Business app, or they may choose to use WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, to securely store messages and respond to customers on its behalf.
Some businesses may choose to use these tools at the same time.
When you chat with a business that chooses to use these tools at the same time, chats between only you and the business are managed by a secure service from Meta. This will also include a limited portion of your chat history that the business provides. Other communications sent via the WhatsApp Business app, including group chats, calls, and status updates, remain end-to-end encrypted.
If a business chooses to use both of these tools at the same time, we’ll make it clear to you when they are using WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, to securely store messages and respond to you.

You’re in control

WhatsApp wants to make sure you know what’s happening with your messages. If you don’t want to receive messages from a person or business, you can always:
  • Block them directly from the chat
  • Delete them from your contact list
We want to make sure you understand how your messages are being handled. We also want to ensure you have the options you need to make the right decisions for you.
