How to choose ad media for WhatsApp businesses

Ads with images make it easier for customers to see what you have to offer.
You can choose to add an image in one of the following ways:
  • Add media from your catalog.
  • Take a new photo or video.
  • Upload an existing photo or video from your phone’s gallery.
  • Use your status.
  • Use your business profile photo.

Using a catalog item

To use your newest catalog item:
  1. Tap Tools > Advertise.
  2. Tap Your newest catalog item.
  3. Tap Next to review and edit your media.
  4. Tap
    Check (checkmark within circle)
    , add a description and continue creating your ad.
To use an older catalog item:
  1. Tap Tools > Advertise.
  2. Tap Your catalogue.
  3. Tap Next and select your catalog media. You can select up to 10.
  4. Tap
    Check (checkmark within circle)
    and you can choose to edit it.
  5. Tap
    Check (checkmark within circle)
    and continue creating your ad.
Note: Catalog items you want to advertise must be approved.

Using a new photo or video

  1. Tap Tools > Advertise.
  2. Tap Take a new photo or video.
  3. Tap Next, take your photo or video and choose to edit it.
  4. Tap
    Check (checkmark within circle)
    when finished and continue creating your ad.

  3. Tap Next.
  4. You can select up to 10 photos or one video.

  6. You can choose to edit your photos or video. For example, you can crop, trim or rotate your media.
  7. Tap
    Check (checkmark within circle)
    when finished and continue creating your ad.

Using a status

  1. Tap Tools > Advertise.
  2. Tap Your status.
  3. Tap Next and choose a status.
  4. You can choose to edit your status. For example, you can crop, trim or rotate it.
  5. Tap
    Check (checkmark within circle)
    when finished and continue creating your ad.

Tips for choosing an ad photo

  • Consider adding a simple but clear image or video of one of your products.
  • You can also crop photos or trim videos, so the product or service is clearly featured.
  • Use a high-resolution image or video. Avoid using screenshots.
  • If you're capturing the image or recording the video yourself, ensure you have good lighting. Experiment with multiple angles and backgrounds and don't take the photo or record the video from too far away. Use the full frame.
