How to see channel metrics and insights
Some channel insights, like reach, growth, and followers, are rolling out gradually and may not be available to you yet. Keep your app updated and check back.
As a channel owner or admin, you can see metrics about how people interact with your channel and channel content like:
- Insights about your channel’s growth, reach, and followers for the last 30 days.
- Number of followers and some information about followers who are also your contacts.
- Reaction details like number and type of emoji reactions and poll vote results.
About channel insights
For privacy reasons, channel insights, like reach, growth, and followers, aren’t shown for channels with fewer than 100 followers.
Please note:
- For now, insight metrics are in development.
This means while we believe these numbers are accurate:
- We’re still testing to figure out the best way to measure them.
- As we learn more, we may make adjustments until we get it just right.
- We’ll remove the “in development” label once we’re done testing.
- Reported numbers may be delayed by about a week.
- In addition to channel owners, all channel admins have access to available insights.
See channel growth insights like:
- Net follows - the number of follows minus the number of unfollows of your channel in the past 30 days. This includes unfollows resulting from WhatsApp account deletion.
- Follows - the number of times WhatsApp accounts followed your channel in the past 30 days.
- Unfollows - the number of times WhatsApp accounts unfollowed your channel in the last 30 days. This includes unfollows resulting from WhatsApp account deletion.
See channel reach insights like:
- Accounts reached - the number of WhatsApp accounts who viewed any of your updates at least once in the past 30 days. The total:
- Doesn’t include multiple views by the same account.
- Does include admin views.
- Does include both followers and non-followers. Tap or click See all to see a breakdown of your reach by followers versus non-followers.
- Top regions reached - regions with the highest concentration of reached WhatsApp accounts for your channel.
- See up to 10 regions where your channel is the most popular.
- Note: For privacy reasons, a region is only shown when more than 100 local accounts have been reached in the last 30 days.
See insights about channel followers like:
- Top regions - see up to 10 regions with the highest concentration of your followers.
- Total followers - see how many followers you have and the percent of change over the last 30 days.
How to see reach, growth, and followers insights for your channel
Channel insights are available on the channel info page.
To get to your channel info page:
- Tap or click your channel to open it.
- Tap or click your channel name.
- See the number of accounts reached and net follows for the past 30 days.
- Tap See all to review more detailed breakdowns.
How to see your follower list
The follower list is available on the channel info page.
To get to your channel info page:
- Go to the Updates tab on mobile, or click the Channels icon from WhatsApp Web.
- Tap or click your channel to open it.
- Tap or click your channel name.
From the follower list you can:
- See how many people follow your channel.
- See followers who are also your contacts and some details about them like:
- Name
- Profile photo (depending on their privacy settings)
- Quickly interact with followers who are also your contacts — clicking on a contact will open a new private message in the Chats tab and messages will come from your WhatsApp profile, not your channel.
How to see reaction details for channel updates
On each channel update you can see how people reacted to it.
Emoji reactions: Long press or click the update you want to see reaction details for to see:
- Number of each type of emoji reaction.
- Details about who reacted with emojis like:
- Profile photos (depending on their privacy settings)
- Profile name (if they’re also your contact)
Poll votes: Long press or click the poll to view the poll details like:
- Number of votes for each option.
- Details about who voted for each option like:
- Profile photos depending on their privacy settings.
- Profile name, only if you’ve already saved them as a contact.
- When they voted.
Note: WhatsApp Channels has begun rolling out but isn’t available to everyone yet. Join the waitlist to be notified when WhatsApp Channels is available to you.
Where Channels is available, we’re rolling out new features gradually. Some features, like being able to create a channel, might not be available to you yet.
