How to generate an AI image for your profile photo or group icon

You can generate an AI image with Meta AI to use as your profile photo or group icon. AI images are generated by artificial intelligence (AI), based on the prompts and messages you type, using a service from Meta.
Note:
  • This feature is currently only available in limited countries and might not be available to you yet, even if other users in your country have access.
  • At this time, only prompts in English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish are supported.

Create an AI-generated image

For your profile photo


In order to create images of yourself, you’ll first need to take setup photos. Learn how in this article.
  1. Go to WhatsApp Settings.
  2. Tap your profile photo.
  3. Tap
    camera
    .
  4. Tap Create AI image.
  5. Enter your text prompt after Imagine.
  6. Select an image, then tap
    done
    .

For your group icon

  1. Open the group chat.
  2. Tap the group name.
  3. Tap the group icon.
  4. Tap Create AI image.
  5. Enter your text prompt after Imagine.
  6. Select an image, then tap
    done
    .
Note:
  • Meta uses AI chats consistent with Meta’s Privacy Policy. By using this feature, you agree to Meta’s AI Terms of Service.
  • You have the option to delete individual chats with AIs or request the deletion of information you previously shared with Meta AI. Learn more in this article.
  • Some images generated by AIs might not be accurate or appropriate.
