How to add music to status updates

Music on Status is not yet available in some countries, including Brazil. Even if it's in your country, it may not be available to you yet. We’re working hard to make sure it’s available to everyone as soon as possible.
You can add music to status updates with photos or video. This feature is not available for text, GIF, or voice status updates.
  1. Tap Updates >
    Camera (camera)
    .
  2. Select a photo or video, or tap Camera to take a new photo or video.
  3. Tap
    Music Note (musical eighth note)
    to open the music browser.
  4. Tap the search bar to search for music or scroll down to browse popular songs.
    • You can search by song, artist, keyword.
  5. Tap
    Play (left arrowhead)
    to preview the song or
    Add (right arrow within circle)
    to add to status.
  6. Use the progress bar to select a section of the song to add to status.
    • Tap the center of the screen to change sticker type.
  7. Tap Done.
    • Tap and hold the sticker to move and resize it.
    • Tap the sticker to go back to the music editor.
  8. Tap
     Send (paper airplane)
    .
Note: You can add up to 15 seconds of music to an image update. For video updates, you can add music that lasts the duration of the video. Video updates can be a maximum of 60 seconds long.
You can also create a status without choosing a photo or video.
  1. Tap Updates.
  2. Tap
    Camera (camera)
    > Music.
  3. Tap the search bar to search for music or scroll down to browse popular songs.
  4. Tap
    Play (right arrowhead)
    to preview the song or
    Add (right arrow within circle)
    to add to status.
    • Tap the music sticker to change the sticker type.
To create a status with music from someone else’s status, tap the sticker > Add status with music. Learn more about music on WhatsApp Status.

About music on WhatsApp Business

To make sure the music in our licensed library is not used for commercial purposes, we restrict access to licensed music for business accounts. This means your music selection might be limited when using WhatsApp Business.
