About seeing ads on WhatsApp Status

If you’re only using WhatsApp for personal messaging, you won’t see ads. Ads will only appear in the Updates tab, in Status and Channels, separate from your personal chats and calls.
Ads in WhatsApp Status and Channels are rolling out gradually and may not be available to you yet.
You may see ads while viewing status updates. Ads in Status will be labeled “Sponsored” and include the name of the advertiser. You will have the option to message that advertiser by clicking on the ad.
- Status updates are end-to-end encrypted: We don’t use your personal status content to show you ads. Learn more about what info we use to show ads on WhatsApp.
- If you see an ad in Status you don’t like, you can hide or report it: You can report inappropriate ads or hide ads you don’t want to see anymore. Just tap on the menu in the ad to hide or report. Learn more about hiding and reporting ads on WhatsApp.
- You can see why we're showing you an ad: You can get more info about why we’re showing you a particular ad. Tap the menu in the ad and select Why you’re seeing this ad.
