You can change the phone number associated with your account to transfer your account information to a new phone number. Learn how to change your phone number.
- Transfer your account information and settings to your new phone number. This includes your profile photo, name, about, individual chats, and group chats.
- Delete the WhatsApp account associated with your old phone number, so your contacts will no longer see your old phone number in their WhatsApp contacts lists.
When you change your phone number, WhatsApp will:
We recommend you tell your contacts about your new phone number before changing phone numbers. Ask them to add your new number to their phone’s contacts to avoid any confusion.
Note: If you change your phone number by mistake, there’s no way to revert this change. If you resume use of your original phone number and want to regain access to your groups, you’ll need to ask the group admin to re-invite you. Learn more about how to rejoin a group chat.
