How to edit AI-generated images

Note:
  • Meta AI and some experiences are currently only available in limited countries and might not be available to you yet, even if others in your country have access.
  • At this time, only English, Arabic, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese are supported.
You can edit, animate, and share images you generate with Meta AI. AI images are generated by artificial intelligence (AI), based on the prompts and messages you type, using a service from Meta.

Generate and edit an AI-generated image

  1. Open the chat with Meta AI or the group chat you’d like to use AI in.
    • In a chat with Meta AI: Type Imagine.
    • In a group chat: Tap
      attach
      > AI images.
  2. If prompted, read and accept the terms.
  3. Type your text prompt.
  4. Tap
    ai send
    .
Once you generate an image, you’ll see the following options to modify before you send or share:
  • Animate: Tap Animate to animate the image.
  • Edit: Tap Edit to update the image. You can choose to:
    • Add: Tap and enter your text prompt to update the image.
    • Remove: Tap and enter your text prompt to remove something from the image.
    • Change: Tap and enter your text prompt to replace something in the image.
  • refresh
    :     Tap to re-generate the image.
  • Send: Tap to share the image in a chat.

Edit an existing AI-generated image

  1. Open the chat with the AI image you generated.
  2. Tap and hold the image.
  3. Tap Reply.
  4. Type your new text prompt in the message field.
  5. Tap
    ai send
    .
The updated generated image will be displayed in the chat.
Note:
  • Meta uses AI chats consistent with Meta's Privacy Policy. By using this feature, you agree to Meta's AI Terms of Service.
  • This is an optional feature provided by Meta. You have the option to delete individual chats with AIs or request the deletion of information you previously shared with Meta AI. Learn more in this article.
  • Some images generated by AIs might not be accurate or appropriate.
