Businesses on the WhatsApp Business app can choose to connect their existing Meta catalog on Commerce Manager to the WhatsApp Business app. This allows businesses with a presence on multiple Meta surfaces, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, to provide customers with a consistent, cross-platform shopping experience.

How to connect a Meta catalog to the WhatsApp Business app

Before connecting your WhatsApp Business catalog to a Meta catalog, you will need:
  • An existing Meta catalog in Commerce Manager.
  • To link your Facebook page associated with your Meta catalog to your WhatsApp Business account. Learn how to add a WhatsApp Business account to a Facebook Page in this article.
To then connect your WhatsApp Business catalog to a Meta catalog:
  1. Open the WhatsApp Business app.
  2. Tap Tools > Catalog.
  3. Tap
    more options (three vertical dots)
    > Catalog settings.
  4. Tap Connect catalog. If prompted, tap Continue.
  5. Tap Confirm.
Note: Connecting your WhatsApp Business catalog to your Meta catalog will archive any existing WhatsApp Business catalog on your device. While archived, it will not be visible to customers.

How to update a connected catalog

Businesses cannot update a connected catalog using the WhatsApp Business app.
Instead, businesses who have set up a connected catalog can edit, add, delete, hide, and unhide products in that connected catalog in one of two ways:
  • Businesses on the WhatsApp Business app should use Commerce Manager to update their connected catalogs.
  • Businesses with catalogs hosted on third-party platforms connected to Commerce Manager should update their connected catalogs through their third-party platform.
Updates to a connected catalog should appear in your WhatsApp Business catalog within 24 hours.

How to disconnect a Meta catalog from the WhatsApp Business app

To disconnect your WhatsApp Business catalog from a connected Meta catalog:
  1. Tap Tools > Catalog.
  2. Tap
    more options (three vertical dots)
    > Catalog settings.
  3. Tap Disconnect.
Note: If you had an existing WhatsApp Business catalog when you connected to a Meta catalog, that WhatsApp Business catalog will be unarchived and made visible to customers again.
